You can connect the website widget to any website by adding a small code snippet to its source code. This method is simple and straightforward. Once the code is in place, the website widget appears on your site — ready to engage visitors, automate conversations, and provide instant support.
How to install the code manually
Step 1: Open your widget settings
Go to your Text App dashboard, then head to Settings → Website widgets. If you're connecting your website during onboarding, you can also click the Connect website widget from your homepage task list instead.
Step 2: Enter your website URL
Enter the URL of the website where you want to install the widget. This tells us where to connect Text App and helps generate a unique installation code for your site.
Step 3: Copy the installation code
After entering your website URL, you'll receive a unique JavaScript code snippet that will load the website widget on your website. Click on it to copy it.
Step 4: Paste the code into your website's HTML
Open your site's source code and paste the snippet just before the closing </body>
tag. Make sure to save the changes and reload your page.
💡Tip: If you use a CMS or template system, you may find a global footer or layout file where this code can be added once to cover every page on your site.
Step 5: Preview the widget
Visit your website in a browser to confirm that the website widget appears. Try interacting with it to see exactly what your visitors will experience.
Step 6: Check the installation status
The status will update once you visit your website or when any visitor accesses it.
You can also click Check widget status to verify the installation manually.
If everything is working, the status will update to Connected, and you'll see a notification that your website widget is live 🎉.
💡Tip: If you prefer more control over where the website widget appears, you can also install it on a single page instead of your entire website.
Installing the website widget on multiple websites

Step 1: Go to the Website widgets section
In Text App, go to Settings → Website widgets. This is where you manage all your website connections.
Step 2: Select or create a new widget
Click the + New website widget button to create a new website widget. You can also click on the three dots icon in the existing one to copy its code and re-implement the same website widget on another page.
Step 3: Repeat the installation steps
-
Enter the URL of the new website.
-
Copy the new code snippet.
-
Paste it into the new site's HTML just before the closing

tag. -

💡Tip: If you create a new widget, each website gets its own code snippet, so make sure you use the correct one for each domain.
Where to find your widgets and installation code
Once you've installed one or more widgets, you'll find them listed in Settings → Website widgets section. For each connected site, you'll see:
