Get notified when a customer starts a chat, returns to your site, and more! In this guide, you’ll learn how to access notification settings, enable browser permissions, and customize which events you want to be alerted about.
Step 1: Open Notification Settings
-
Go to Text App
-
Click your profile picture in the bottom-left corner
-
Select Notifications
This opens the notification settings panel with two tabs:
-
Chat notifications for live conversations
-
Ticket notifications for asynchronous support
Step 2: Understand the Default View
From this section, you can manage your Chats and Tickets notifications.
Chats notifications:
-
Notification banners – when you click this option, a pop-up will appear asking you to allow the text.com domain to display notifications in your browser.
-
Sound notifications – allows you to choose whether you want to receive sound alerts for chats.
Below, you can also manage each notification separately.
- New messages (always enabled by default)
- Incoming chats
- Queued visitors
- New visitors
- Returning visitors
Tickets notifications:
- Notification banners - once you click on that option, a pop-up will be displayed and ask you to allow the text.com domain to display notifications in your browser
Troubleshooting
Notifications Still Don’t Work
If you’ve enabled notifications in Text App and browser, but still don’t receive alerts, your operating system settings may be blocking them. Below you'll find how to fix this.
On macOS
-
Open System Settings > Notifications
-
Select your browser (e.g., Chrome, Safari, Firefox)
-
Enable Allow Notifications
-
Set the alert style to Banners or Alerts
-
Enable sound and badge icons
On Windows
-
Open Settings > System > Notifications
-
Make sure Notifications are turned On
-
Scroll down and select your browser from the list
-
Enable all relevant options (sound, banners, etc.)
You're All Set
Once permissions are enabled and notifications are turned on in Text App, you’ll be instantly alerted to chat and ticket activity that matters most.
Let the app notify you, so you can focus on conversations.
